Details to come, but here’s Miriella wielding the Dark Herring AND Old Ironjaw. Fear the gnome armed with fish.
Now I just need to win the danged Fishing Tournament to become Salty Miriella!

Okay, started in Fort Wildervar:
Then I moved west to Winter’s Breath Lake:
Todays total: 234
Fjord Total: 437.
Grand Total: 1621.
On an upside, Springroll got her little sand crawler pet from the fishing treasures bag today. Yay! Now if Miriella would just get it, we’d be in better shape.

Alright, here I am, working on the achievement for The One That Didn’t Get Away – apart from winning the Fishing Tournament, is just about the most elusive fishing achievement to get.
I’ve been trying for it on and off, but now I’m on a serious chase for it, so here goes the numbers for yesterday and today’s fishing sessions so far:
Azshara, Bay of Storms:
This brings it to a total of 360 catches (minus the pearls). My goal is to fish to 1000 fish here in Azshara, and after, if I still haven’t caught one of the rares, I’ll head to Howling Fjord or Grizzly Hills for the Dark Herring. Who wouldn’t want to get stabbed in the face with a fish?
Wish me luck. It’s apparent I’ll need it, though I did catch Old Ironjaw in under 2 hours of work two nights ago
Session Two Saturday night:
Total: 565 fish and other things caught.

In just a short amount of time I’d managed to get all 4 coin achievements, 2 sewer rats and a sea turtle mount! Miriella fished up the sewer rat a day or two before Patch 3.1, and while Miriella was pathetically trapped in Ulduar instances, I had nothing to do but to play Springroll, which I really didn’t want to do, so I decided to level her fishing instead. I started one night, and two nights later, I fished up all of the Dalaran coins. I checked the 1000 fish achievement, and I was a little over 100 away, so I thought, I have some time left to kill, so I’ll head down to the sewers and work on the rat while I get to the 1k fish achievement. Surely, I thought, I’d hit 1000 with it. Crazily enough, I head down to the sewers with Springroll – and it’s her first time ever having been in the sewers, I discover, and what do you know, the stupid priest fishes up the sewer rat in 6 casts!
The weekend came, and I was busy moving into my new apartment – and, as a result, had no internet access in my humble abode for over a week. I have no idea how I survived, but I did. Tonight was the first night I’d been back, so here’s the tonight’s total tally before I fished up the sea turtle:
7 Barrelhead Goby
1 Bonescale Snapper
17 Borean Leather Scraps
4 Borean Man O’ War
17 Cobalt Ore
10 Crystallized Water
101 Deep Sea Monsterbelly
6 Frostweave Cloth
14 Glacial Salmon
5 Imperial Manta Ray
109 Moonglow Cuttlefish
13 Musselback Sculpin
12 Nettlefish
170 Pygmy Suckerfish
4 Rockfin Grouper
8 Succulent Clam Meat
Today’s Total: 440 Fish, 58 other thingies. A grand total of 1045 fish, and lots of other various crap in reinforced crates and whatnots, so for me the average was just about 1 in 1000, which really isn’t bad at all; I thought I’d be around for much much longer, lurking the waters of the Frozen Sea for so long.
He’s very cute, and very worth it!

Okay. I know I’m insane. Let’s just document it for proof.
This includes about 10 minutes of fishing for the new Dalaran daily Fishing quest, and about 20 minutes of fishing in Elwynn Forest (I still need the One That Didn’t Get Away achievement) while the Northrend servers crashed, uncrashed, recrashed.
Today’s Fishing Daily was The Ghostfish. From the reward, I looted the Sealed Vial of Poison quest starter item, some deviate fish, a Northsea pearl, and some elixirs of water walking.
Fished up on Day 1:
8 Barrelhead Goby
3 Borean Man O’War
7 Borean Leather Scraps
7 Cobalt Ore
21 Crystallized Water
112 Deep Sea Monsterbelly
21 Frostweave Cloth
7 Glassfin Minnow
9 Imperial Manta Ray
144 Moonglow Cuttlefish
36 Nettlefish
255 Pygmy Suckerfish
12 Raw Brillian Smallfish
9 Raw Longjaw Mud Snapper
2 Rockfin Grouper
8 Sickly Fish
That makes 605 fish.
and a couple of other grey items that I deleted.
Bleh.

Have I really not posted since Christmas? Oops. Well, the good thing is, my life is going full speed ahead. I’m in the middle of moving to a fabulous new apartment, and today, I’m actually in a WordPress workshop taught by the super awesome Polly-Alida Farrington, so I’ll be messing around here more as I get re-inspired.
Oh, and Patch 3.1 is out for World of Warcraft! Miriella’s new goal? The sea turtle mount of course! I spent a solid 4 hours or so fishing last night, so I do believe I’ll be documenting my fishing adventures once more.
Stay posted!

Huzzah! Two 20-page papers and a 9 page final exam complete, and I’m free from the deathly grasps of my master’s degree….for a week. My weeklong reprieve could not possibly come at a better moment, for today, World of Warcraft’s Patch 2.4 arrives today! I’ll go ahead and assume that the servers won’t even be up until around 8 server, if we’re lucky, and then it’ll take me til about midnight server to get all the add-ons straightened out, which is usually a complete disaster after every patch. (See prior 2.3 patch fiasco.)
Normal people are excited about the new badge items you can get. Still others are excited about the new Sunwell content. Me? It’s all about the fishing!! With 2.4 comes a mysterious old man located at Silmyr Lake just outside Shattrath who’ll have 5 daily fishing quests for me:
These fishing quests also provide the opportunity to get 4 different vanity pets (did I hear a mention of a vanity pet bag? Please say it’s so!) – it seems they are all baby crocolisks, named Chuck, Muckbreath, Toothy and Snarly. Can’t wait!
Thankfully, both of my level 70 characters are near max fishing (Springroll is slow, she’s only at 373 as of last night) – which means I’ll have 10 opportunities a day to get the goods.
I’ll be keeping you posted on all my fishing adventures, and of course, bringing you screenshots of wee lil’ baby crocs as I get them (hopefully!). Wish me luck!

Oops. I hadn’t realized I hadn’t posted in so long. Poor neglected blog o’ purple. Let’s see – last time I was here was over Thanksgiving. Since then, I’ve completed two final projects including a systems analysis project on redesigning a website…completed the final phase of the RFID conversion project for CDs at my old library, quit that job, and started a brand spanking new one. Mmm…RL. Let’s see. Not IRL – I made it to Grand Master Farmer on my little level 7 alt on Lord of the Rings Online (which just sounds like a really big accomplishment, but is in fact, rather trivial), made almost 2g with my main - I suppose I would have made more money if I wasn’t so obsessed with crafting on all three of my characters…I blame SWG…oh sweet SWG, I truly miss that game. More on that some time later. Much later, at the rate I’m going. And…let’s see, World of Warcraft accomplishments – oh yes, I fished up a Mr. Pinchy with Springroll at a mere level of Fishing 316 – which is totally hilarious. Springroll’s healing is a bit over 1700 unbuffed, and Miriella has racked up over 100 badges of justice, and I think has almost enough gear for her to be ready to tank Krosh in Gruul’s Lair. Somehow I’ve been managing to sneak in a bunch of Kara runs on both my characters and racking up some serious goods. I did Gruul’s also and the very beautiful Bloodmaw Magus Blade that I’ve been dying for dropped, and through a series of screwed up rolls and confusion, I wound up with it. Huzzah! I’ve run ZA only once with Miriella and once with Springroll, but I’m not really enamored with it. One, it reminds me of ZG and it’s bloody confusing. I can navigate my way through all of Connecticut without a map but I can’t figure out where the exit for ZA is. Whatever. Two, I haven’t seen a single cloth drop yet.
It’s been a very busy, exciting month for me - most importantly I’ve survived my first week at my new job. Full-time Webmaster! What more can I ask for? It’s been an exciting adventure; I’m working with an AMAZING group of passionate, dedicated people who are totally with it – plus I’m thoroughly learning/enjoying as much as I can with my-not-boss-but-sort-of-is-Kate Sheehan, oh goddess of techie and library stuff, in the precious few months I have with her. She rocks but she sucks for leaving me for uber-Darien in March.
This weekend I plan on doing nothing but sleeping, WoWing, and wrapping up the few presents I managed to scrounge up. Happy Purple Christmas all!
Yes, I own a purple tree. It’s pretty and shiny and sparkly but currently lives in the trunk of my car. Next year I’ll put it up in Danbury.
