Last week I bought a lightsaber keychain for many reasons.
1) I thought it would a good idea to have a flashlight of a sort on my keychain.
2) I heart Star Wars.
3) Yoda is cute (hence the green one).

Not a bad image for a lousy picture phone.
It wasn’t even purple. That’s how much I wanted it. So I opened it about half an hour ago, and the stick is like, 6 inches long, and all it does is pop into the end – it comes right off with very little effort. So I am now the owner of a 10 inch phallic key chain, and I’ll probably lose the tube part of it by tomorrow. On the bright side, if you take off the tube thingo, it does function decently as a light source. And if I attach the thingo it works very well as a nightstick. So I guess if I get lost in the middle of the woods, I can fumble around in my purse for the extra tube, attach it to my keychain, and flail it around in hopes that someone can find me. There’s a positive. I suppose I shouldn’t have been surprised that this keychain wasn’t really supposed to be for practical usage. My bad.
I know, I keep saying I’m going away to do my work but I distract myself with such things as lightsaber keychains. On the bright side, I also figured out how to pair up my cell phone to my laptop. I still haven’t figured out how to pair my two laptops together – I spent like half an hour trying to figure out, since it would have been so nice to just shoot my work from one laptop to the other via Bluetooth. I can hook any other device (headset, phone, blah blah) to either of the laptops but I can’t quite get those two to play with each other. They can see each other, but they just won’t talk to each other. Silly laptops.
Okay back to work! I finished navigation and blueprint diagrams for the website, now I’m heading for templates, wireframes and pixel-perfect design, and maybe we’ll have some kind of a decent project proposal to turn in for on Monday.

Okay so I’ve had Skinny Bitch checked out from the library for like, a month now. And I just decided to pick it up about 5 minutes ago. Yes, conveniently on the day after Thanksgiving. And yes, right in the middle of me trying to finish up a hideous group project for class due Monday (which I thought was due in like two weeks, but I haven’t admitted that to my group mates). Procrastination FTL. Anyway. I loved it right away. The style of writing and the attitude is great. I got all excited, because I thought, well maybe, I could at least be inspired with some of the advice they give. I read lots of self-help books…but I don’t actually do a lot (or any) of it. Can’t blame me for kind of trying, no? So I’m reading delightedly along, getting sworn at here and there, cheering when I get to page 13 when they say “soda is liquid Satan”. Hell yes. Firstly, I just plain don’t like soda. Secondly, if I wind up having to drink soda (say, at a party, and the hostess doesn’t have the sense to put plain old water out and there’s nothing but beer and soda…), I always get the friggin’ hiccups. Yes. Hiccups. Stop laughing. But then…page 15 comes rolling along…and DUN DUN DUUUUUN….they attack coffee!!! Coffee?!?!!!! Sacred, beautiful, delicious, life-preserving coffeeeeeeeee? Oh yes. They broke my heart and told me coffee is a no-no. So. Page 16 and we have 1 thing I’m already following (soda non-drinking) and 1 thing I’m not following (coffee non-drinking). I’d say that’s a pretty good start so far.
Back to school work!

Happy Thanksgiving all!
I’d been meaning to write a post about my adventures in Heroic Old Hillsbrad (ouch, and ouch, and ouch some more), but Monday I was cranky, Tuesday was crazy, and yesterday was nuts. And today is Thanksgiving. While I would take the time to write about it, I have a MASSIVE group project due on Monday, and I seriously need to dedicate a whole lot of time to it this weekend. So I’ll be back to write some more hopefully within a week or two. Til then, stuff yourselves silly with yummy turkey and my favoritest – stuffing – and whatever else is on the dinner table. Try not to strangle your family to death. Be good!

Oh, the emotions.
In a library far, far away (no, really, it’s not just a Star Wars reference, it’s an hour-long drive, one way), I will be the new webmaster come December 17th. Actually, I shouldn’t say that. I will have a new job only if my pee in a cup this morning checks out okay. Which it should.
I will leave behind an amazing library full of wonderful folks (I know, contrary to yesterday’s post
). I have been working here for almost 11 years, and I leave it with great sadness. My boss has been like a mother to me, and she always will be. All of the staff have been like the cool aunt to me – always giving me good advice about shoes (I ignore the “you need to wear sensible shoes” advice), men, family, school…life. Everyone’s been so wonderful to me, it’s really going to hurt when I leave here. But maybe they won’t get rid of me completely, maybe I’ll keep doing Sundays here. I started working here as a volunteer at the ripe old age of 17, when I needed 30 hours of volunteer service to get into the National Honor Society in high school. After my 30 hours were up, I felt guilty for doing the hours and then bolting, so I decided to continue to volunteer. I got hired as a page soon after, and the rest is history.
I’ve never been good with change, and I avoid it where I can. Cases in point: I just celebrated my 10 year anniversary with my fiance. I’ve been at this library for 11 years. I’ve lived in this town for 18 years. I didn’t leave it go to college, or for my first master’s. And come to think of it, not for my second master’s either, since it’s online. So yeah, this major change in my life is going to be a ridiculous shock to my system. But change is good, I just have to remember that. I am very excited; I know I’ll be heading for an uber library with lots of really great, talented people. I’ll get to surround myself with tekkie nerdy things that I so love, learn all about it, and put them into practice. I’ll get to do what I love 24/7!

Coffeecoffeecoffeecoffeecoffeecoffeecoffeecoffeecoffeecoffee!!!!!!!!!
Holy cow. My coffee is so seriously strong this morning I grew hair on my chest. It’s sprouting as we speak. Well, as I speak. You’re listening.
No joke. I love Starbucks to death. I have the Starbucks Visa. And to think I almost asked for a red eye this morning. (Red Eye: regular coffee with a shot of espresso – you need to get it.) But my regular guy at Starbucks gets my coffee ready for me the instant I walk through the door (hiiiiiii Gory!! Thank you thank you!), and I didn’t feel like asking for anything different. But oh my am I thankful I didn’t add espresso to this - I went over to pour the half and half in my coffee, and I knew I was in trouble when I poured in my regular amount and the coffee barely turned color. Lol.

Here’s my bunny pic for the day. I love it. And mmm pancakes.

Patch 2.3 live!
Whoop-dee-friggin’-do. Every time there’s a friggin’ patch, I always suffer. And yesterday was no different. And it seems I was the only sucker with addon problems. Nobody else in the guild was having issues!
I have the pleasure of working until 9pm every Tuesdays (my weekly required night shift), so I don’t have the luxury of the entire day to fix everything.
This is what I logged into last night:

And no, I had those default toolbars all turned off (after checking and double checking) so I have no idea why there were so many layers of toolbars around. So I whined and cried and then I just went ahead and repaired and started from scratch with the stupid addons. I was planning on taking lunch today to reorganize fubar and such, but I logged in just in time to see the server go down for a 2 hour maintenance. Convenient!
I’m supposed to heal Kara tonight (my first official full run ever!), so hopefully I can get everything organized in time. Paranoia is already setting in…and there’s SIX melee going tonight! Two fury warriors, a retadin, two tanking warriors, and a rogue. I have enough trouble in five mans trying to keep two melee alive, heaven help us all tonight. And poor Loth. Every time he’s been grouped with me healing, he always dies at least once per instance. It’s so bizarre. I think it’s the pressure of attempting to heal well in a group with your fiance and then failing miserably. And on top of it, he’s the only one to die. No brownie points there.
Lessee. Fishing on the Springroll is now up to 315 – and they just added a thingo where Mr. Pinchy himself no longer despawns. So I’m contemplating whether or not to keep fishing on Springroll and get her own Mr. Pinchy first, or re-fish on Miriella so she gets a perma-Pinchy…
More later. My IT guy is kicking me off my own computer. *wave*

Saw Bon Jovi last night, down in Jersey, at the Prudential Center. My friend bought the tickets; it was a very late birthday present, so I shouldn’t complain, and I do really appreciate her getting me Bon Jovi (finally!) tickets, but dear lord, she is the master of purchasing awful seats.
Some of her (un)notable ticket purchases:
- 1st Madonna concert, 2001 - East Rutherford, NJ: 4 rows from the top, tucked in the southeast corner of the stadium.
- 2nd Madonna concert, 2004 - Madison Square Garden: Tier 1, but “Partial View” – meaning, we were on the side and saw a corner of the stage. (I have since taken over the purchase of Madonna tickets for us, and at our last Madonna concert, 2006, I got us 2nd row seats. Hell yes.)
- Bon Jovi – Prudential Center, 2007 – 2 rows from the top. SO high up it isn’t nosebleed, it’s nauseating. Literally. I can’t believe that they’d build an arena and shoot it THAT high up, and practically straight up. Honestly, that top tier is so steep, I just felt like if I jumped forward out of my seat, I would land on the bottom of the arena. It was like a 20 degree vertical rise. In fact, there were a few ladies behind us that were getting sick – their other friends were making fun of them and saying “Hey! Ro! You lookin’ a little pale over there! Whatsamatta witchu? Don’t look down!!” Funny, in its own sad little way. While the Prudential Center is beautiful and clean with a very cool bar, I am going to make every effort to never return there again. Or at least, get decent seats first.
I’m so glad I finally got to see them in concert though. Last year, or whenver Have a Nice Day came out, I kept trying to get tickets, but for whatever reason, fate was working against me. For example, I was only getting pre-sale and/or ticket purchasing info AFTER the days had passed…
Anyway, Daughtry was the opening act, which we missed half of, because the traffic getting there was SO awful – there must have been in accident in CT on I-95 (I took 15 instead), then there was your general traffic in NY and through the GW….then there was a bit of a smushup right as you get on to the Jersey Turnpike. Ick. My friend was VERY upset that we missed Daughtry, but I told her that on the bright side, I’m sure they’ll be around for a very very long time, and that we’ll have plenty more opportunities to see them.
Bon Jovi was just great – they mixed in a lot of their new country style in with the whole theme of the night; and they did a really great job of mixing up their old songs with the new. The band was just amazing – and like Jon said, “Not bad for a bunch of old guys!”. Some of the notable classics they played: You Give Love a Bad Name, Born to Be My Baby, Bad Medicine, Livin’ on a Prayer. And yeah, he’s said that he can’t actually *sing* Livin’ on a Prayer anymore, but…with a crowd of 15,000, he didn’t actually have to anyway.
I heart Bon Jovi!
I do have craptastic pictures of little ant-sized blobs moving around in a lighted corner; I’ll post those sometime later.

So yesterday I had to write a 3 to 5 page, single-spaced (who DOES that?) paper. I had to work 9-5, plus it was my 10 year anniversary (hooray!). We’re planning a little big dinner party with 14ish of our closest peeps on Friday, but we decided to just run out for a small dinner together at the Beach Cafe (LOVE the Beach Cafe! 2070 Post Road in Fairfield!) last night anyway to celebrate the day. So in classic Miriella style, I never have the same drink in a month – I started off with a blue Cosmopolitan – which is NOT your regular Cosmo with a splash of blue Curacao – but kind of a whole different drink altogether. Oh, and actually, what we found out (we did a test) – if you make a regular Cosmo, and add just the tiniest splash of blue Curacao, it becomes a purple Cosmo! I was very delighted to discover that. If you add too much Curacao though, then it becomes this murky brown stuff…then if you add grenadine to THAT, it then becomes a dark dark purple mix…
Then we had to try a new drink on the specials menu, which was called the La Bomba. I ought to write down what’s in it…and the drink looks really good – and it tastes insane – you have a sip of the thing and just when you think it’s going down nice and smooth, it gives you a little punch, and you’re like…Whoa! (I told them they should re-name it to Holy Crap – cuz that’s what you say after every sip…). That was supposed to be my last drink, but when we were flipping through the Bartending Book, we came across a drink called Smurf Piss – Loth almost died laughing so I had to try it. It involves Sprite, blue Curacao, pineapple juice…and there was supposed to be blueberry Schnapps but they didn’t have any so we skipped it. That was actually pretty good. And yes, it’s blue. My boss is screaming at me telling me it’s supposed to be green (blue Smurf + yellow pee = green) – but I’m not buying it. While logically it may sound correct, but not all pee in the world is yellow, so how do we know a Smurf doesn’t really pee blue anyway? I digress. While we flipped through the book some more, and found another very awesome drink called the Jagermonster! 4 parts Jager, 1 part grenadine, 5 parts OJ. Very yummy!
Overall, yesterday was a lot of fun. And we had quite a few experimental successes as well! Oh and I did manage to finish writing my paper…right at midnight.

Oh hell yes. Monday night, four people trusted me with their lives enough to run heroic Shattered Halls with me healing. And yeah, of ALL the heroics to do, I agree to Shattered Halls being my very first heroic ever to heal. Talk about a quadruple homicide/suicide request. Obviously though, heroic SH has been nerfed so much almost to the point of hilarity – if it had been pre-whatever patch, I wouldn’t have agreed to heal. Besides, I had a Super Chocolate Mocha Bear (Scrubs FTW) tank, who can have 9 elite mobs beating on him and he practically never takes any damage. Plus a shadow priest and a lock that could pretty much solo the place themselves too if they wanted to. Anyhow, the run actually went very well. I think I wound up dying several times alone - I was having some serious aggro issues for whatever reason, and we only had one full wipe, which was early on, before the first boss. So all in all, it was pretty successful run. If all 5 of us were a bunch of nooblets, I wouldn’t have been able to carry us through, but since everyone was so amazing, they carried *me* through instead. Pretty cool. So yeah, maybe I don’t really suck at healing after all.
Oh, and Fishing 294. I smell Mr. Pinchy coming. Probably around 325 I’ll head back out to Terokkar and start my Mr. Pinchy campaign. In the meantime, crap tons of primal water, bluefish, and mudfish! Hooray!
Speaking of Scrubs! I HEART SCRUBS so much! Got their Season 6 DVD on Tuesday of course – and last night attempted to watch the first disc with Loth. However, I did a bad thing by requesting to trade anniversary gifts with him (even though our anniversary is not til Monday) – I reallyreallyreallyreallyreallyreally wanted my shiny new jewelry, so I had to give him his present – which was an XBox 360 Elite – so he kicked me off the TV before we could finish watching all of Scrubs so he could go back to playing freaking Guitar Hero. *sigh* Anyway for whatever reason, I’d never seen the first episode on Season 6, which was hilarious watching J.D. try to explain the non-sex he and Kim had…AND I saw the Musical! Amazing, and hysterical. It’s all about poo.
